The Nov. 5 council meeting began with housekeeping procedures of approval of the agenda, previous meeting minutes and the agreement to pay the city’s bills.
Mayor Gus Wilson presided over the meeting and read an amendment to change a city ordinance for local emergencies, which was the amendment’s second reading.
Mayor Pro Tem Loretta Lipsey asked for an explanation of the amendment, and city attorney Joan Harris explained that the change to the amendment was at the request of the Georgia Municipal Association. She said GMA sent a model ordinance to cities to be adopted and the amendment is a change to that model. Council members unanimously approved the change.
