Clifton Ridge’s football season came to an end last Wednesday when the Cougars were shut out 24-0 by Cowan Road Middle School in Griffin in the semifinals of the Central Georgia Middle School Association playoffs.

“They had a good team, but our top running back, Nick Singleton, was not able to play because of a sore knee,” coach Charles David said. “They may have still beaten us, but it would have been a different game with him.

“But we had a good season, finished 5-3, and the guys learned a lot,” he added.

David, who was assisted by Clay Brindger and Geoff Moore, praised Bradley Hunnicutt and Maurice Brown for their play on defense.
