County Administrator Mike Underwood began the Feb. 5 work session with an overview of where the negotiations stood as of the Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax discussions last week.
He said, at the last meeting, figures were placed on the appropriate lines of a worksheet. The total on that sheet was $10.2 million, leaving a small remaining amount of the projected $12 million to distribute to other projects.
Underwood said the check for the December 2013 SPLOST distribution came in at the same level as previous months in 2013, which supports the estimate of a $12 million SPLOST collection for six years.
“We hope the amount will go up, but it appears that $12 million is realistic,” he said.
As board members looked at the worksheet, they continued to add items, and when that was completed, the administrator took a straw poll of how many commissioners were in support of each line item.
