Local charities will be the ultimate winners at Friday night’s bingo games held at the Jones County Lions Club fairgrounds.
The Nov. 6 event is a joint fund-raising effort by the Exchange Club and Jones County Lions Club members. The charity event will be held at the Jones County Lions Club fairgrounds. The Exchange Club is sponsoring the bingo game, and Jones County Lions Club members are providing the delicious concessions to feed hungry players and guests.
Proceeds of the bingo game will be given to local charities to make the holidays brighter for Jones County children.
The Lions Club fairgrounds is located on Highway 18 East, on the left, about three miles from downtown Gray. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m., and hamburger, hot dog, and Polish sausage plates will be available at that time for dining in or carry out. The plates, which include french fries and a drink, will cost $5 for hamburgers and hot dogs and $6 for Polish sausage. Deserts will be available at an additional cost.
Bingo starts at 7.
Cash prizes will be awarded for each of six games with the final black out game paying $250 to the lucky winner. Door prizes will be given away, and a half and half raffle will be held.
Admission for the bingo is $20 for a six-card package, and additional cards will be made available for each game as well as the final cover-all.
The Jones County Lions Club is ever present to help people in need in the community. The organization partnered with the Exchange Club for its first bingo in 2007 and has continued to support the quarterly event. The Lions Club assists those with impaired vision, and people who cannot afford glasses, eye surgery, or a guide dog.
Exchange is one of the nation’s oldest service clubs, and its history dates back to 1800 when a group of businessmen began meeting in Detroit to exchange business leads and information.
The Exchange Club of Jones County is in its tenth year of existence. The local club works with Jones County Schools and agencies such as the Jones County Safe House to help meet the needs of the community.
