Girls fourth, boys fifth in region golf tourney

The Jones County girls finished fourth and the boys were fifth in the Region 2-AAAAA golf tournament that the Greyhounds hosted Tuesday at Healy Point Country Club in River North.

Zach Haney led the Greyhounds with an 81, followed by Brannen Meadows with an 82, Kris Miller with an 87 and Colby Daniels with a 96 as Jones County finished at 346.

Charli Justice and Kensley Brown each shot 105 to pace the Lady Hounds. Monique Veal added a 127 to give the girls a team score of 337.

The Greenbrier boys won the region title with a 309, and the Lakeside-Evans girls took their crown with a 293.

Lakeside’s Eunice Yi was the low medalist for the girls with a 71, which was also the low score for the day. Lakeside’s Hunter Dunagam was the boys’ low medalist with a 72.
