The Sept. 4 meeting was delayed one day from the normal first Monday date due to the Labor Day holiday.
The council members unanimously approved the amendment to the ordinance on utilities to add a penalty provision.
They also gave their approval to a request by the Gray Jaycees to hold the annual lighted Christmas Parade on Tuesday, Dec. 11, at 7 p.m., with the rain date set for Wednesday, Dec. 12.
The theme for the parade this year will be Christmas stories, and Kema Clark has been chosen to be the grand marshal.
The council members also approved a resolution to pay $500 for QS/1 Data Systems to convert tax data to the software program used by the city.
City Clerk Hope Harrison said the agreement is an annual arrangement for the city’s software company “to convert the data from our tax bill printer (Harris/TBS) to a format that our software supports, and they upload the data so we have all of the current tax data in our software system for processing payments and record keeping purposes.”
