The Greyhounds came up short in their first meeting with subregion rival Houston County, losing 9-2 last Friday at home.

It was only the second loss of the season and first subregion loss for the Greyhounds, who are now 8-2 overall and 2-1 in the subregion.

Jones County bounced back to down Northside-Warner Robins 7-1 at home on Saturday afternoon in a makeup game. The Greyhounds also won 3-0 over Jackson at home in a non-region game on Thursday.

Senior right-hander Crandall Poore took the loss against Houston County, giving up seven hits, walking four, hitting a batter and striking out six in 4 2/3 innings. All nine runs were charged to him, though three Jones County errors played a part in a couple of the runs, and the final two came home when reliever Keaton Gordon gave up bases-loaded RBI singles to the first two men he faced in the fifth inning.

Houston County lefty Hunt Smith, meanwhile, held the Greyhounds hitless through the first three innings and finished the day giving up two runs on three hits and an error, walking two and striking out three in four innings for the victory.
