The Greyhounds are back in the GHSA state football playoffs for the first time since 2004.
Led by Undre Williams with 279 yards rushing and five touchdowns and Walker Juhan with 194 yards, Jones County downed Grovetown 48-37 last Friday to finish third in Region 2-AAAAA.
The Greyhounds will travel to Brunswick to play Glynn Academy, the No. 2 seed from Region 3-AAAAA, in the opening round at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
“It feels really good to finally make it,” senior guard Jackson Williamson said after helping his fellow seniors unfurl a banner commemorating making it to state when the team gathered on the field after the game. “We’ve worked real hard this year, really the last four years, to get here. I never doubted we could do it. I had faith in this team the whole season. I’m really glad I had a chance to grow up with these guys. I think we can go as far as we want.”
