A victory over Grovetown (3-6) this Friday at home would send the Greyhounds to the state playoffs – for the first time since 2004 – likely as the third seed from Region 2-AAAAA, and it would allow them to finish the regular season with a 7-3 record, their best mark since 2001.
Jones County tied the school record, set in a 63-8 victory over Monticello in 1975, with the 63 points it scored. And the Greyhounds needed nearly all of their offensive outburst to overcome the upset-minded Bears, who had 390 yards of total offense. The 105 total points scored in the game were the most ever in a Jones County football game, eclipsing the old record of 94 in a 51-43 loss to Henry County in 2007.
Sophomore fullback Walker Juhan added a touchdown and 163 yards on 21 carries, and junior Jo Jo Gibbons ran for two touchdowns and 102 yards on eight carries, and he connected with Jared Johnson on a 32-yard touchdown pass on a halfback option play.
