So far, the 2013 football season has been déjà vu all over again for the Greyhounds. Six weeks into the season, they are 4-2 overall and 2-1 in Region 2-AAAAA. They have beaten the same teams they beat last year, and lost to the same ones they lost to in 2012.

The only difference has been where the games have been played, with the home and away flip-flopped on this year’s schedule.

Now, after beating Evans 27-15 in homecoming last Friday, Jones County finds itself again tied for third in the region standings with Lakeside-Evans with four games to play.

The top four teams in the region advance to the state playoffs, with the top two hosting first round games and the next two playing on the road.

In 2012, the Greyhounds won three of their final four to capture the third seed and make it into the state playoffs for the first time in eight years. They lost at Glynn Academy in the first round.

Now they face the same situation in trying to get back to the playoffs this year, starting with a game against top-ranked Northside-Warner Robins. This time, the game is on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at McConnell-Talbert Stadium in Warner Robins.
