The City of Gray is the recipient of a Community Development Block Grant from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs due to the tenacity of housing committee members.

The grant was announced Aug. 31 and is in the amount of $385,531. It is designated for neighborhood revitalization. Donald Black is the chairman of the housing committee.

The CDBG application was the second submission for the committee, which was assisted in both attempts by Nick Kouloungis, a senior government services specialist with the Middle Georgia Regional Commission. Grant funds will be used to repair homes in Gray.

The grant application was not funded last year. Kouloungis went over the problem areas in the failed application and improved it where possible.

Black said the success of the application was the result of a combined effort.
