JCHS wins pair of region matches

The Jones County tennis teams won a pair of region matches against Warner Robins and Northside-Warner Robins last week, with both the girls and boys improving to 5-1 on the season. The Lady Hounds are 3-0 in Region 2-AAAAA play, and the Greyhounds are 2-1.

The Jones County girls and boys both swept Warner Robins 5-0 last Tuesday in Warner Robins, coach Alisha Gordon reported.

For the Lady Hounds, Jazmine Washington downed Shelby West 6-2, 6-0, Makayla Schafer beat Jackie Barrett 6-2, 6-4, and Sarah Pounds blanked Gillian Pritchett 6-0, 6-0 in singles. In doubles, Olivia Lane and McKenzie Barnes beat Ally Sams and Kara Walker 6-1, 4-6, 6-0, and Kaitlyn Holder and Rosanna Baker topped Melissa Gentry and Sarah Bentley 6-1, 7-5.

For the boys, Jacob Wills downed Leon Wilhelm 6-4, 4-6, 6-2, Coleman Hice beat Randy Kim 6-0, 6-1, and Travis Aultman downed Raphael Francisco 6-2, 7-5 in singles. In doubles, Hank Pittman and Robby Lanterman downed Mark Elliot and Sean Schubert 6-3, 6-2, and Lawson Cahill and Christian Hursey beat Nick Leon and KeShawn Harden 6-3, 6-2.
