The Jones County wrestling team won three matches last week, downing Central 48-33, Rutland 54-24 and Baldwin 68-22, coach Jacob Crook reported.

Sherrod Shahid (120 pounds), Tim Randolph (126), Tyler Dukes (132), Seth Killgo (138), Torrez Finney (182), Daniel Curry (195), Scott Rooks (220) and De Waller (285) all went 3-0 on the week, with Killgo and Finney both winning all three of their matches by pins.

Jequelle Griffin (145) was 2-1, Trae Black (113) was 1-1, and Hampton Hamner (106) and Alfred Hunter (152) were both 1-2 for the Greyhounds.

Randolph, Rooks and Waller are all now 8-0 on the season.

The Greyhounds were scheduled to compete in the Norcross Thanksgiving tournament Tuesday and Wednesday, then have the rest of the week off. They wrestle at Monticello next Tuesday and at Georgia Military on Dec. 7.

Soccer players chosen

Jones County soccer players junior Adam Sole and freshman Ethan Oulsnam were recently selected in statewide tryouts for the Georgia Olympic Development Team in their respective age groups. The team members receive training from top coaches and have the opportunity to compete against top soccer players in regional and national events.
