Jones County girls win at Waco track meet

The Jones County girls won a track meet at Washington County last week as they prepared for the Region 2-AAAAA meet, which is to be held this week at Grovetown High. Preliminaries were to begin Tuesday, and the finals are scheduled for Saturday.

Coach Geoff Moore said the Lady Hounds won 11 events in the meet.

Jasmine Standifer won the triple jump with a distance of 31 feet, 7 inches, the 200 meters in 25.6 seconds and the 800 meters in 58.8 seconds.

Victoria Dumas won the 100 hurdles in 15.3 seconds and the 300 hurdles in 47.7 seconds.

Kate Boland won the 800 meters in 2:40 and the 3,200 meters in 14:08. Ravan Burston won the shot put with a throw of 28 feet, 7 inches, and Kalene Falgout won the discus with a toss of 94 feet.

The 4-by-100 relay team of Dumas, Standifer, Ashley Thomas and Jalisa Hammock won in 50.5 seconds, and the 4-by-400 team of Dumas, Boland, Shayla Collins and Standifer won in 4:22.

Boys’ results for the meet were not reported.
