Jones County graduate Kristen Carr, a sophomore softball player at Columbus State University, has been named Peach Belt Conference Player of the Week for helping the Lady Cougars sweep four games last week.

Carr, who is a designated hitter and pitcher, went 7-for-10 in the four games with a 1.4000 slugging percentage, two homers, nine RBIs, four runs and two walks. She also struck out three in a scoreless inning of relief work against Augusta State.

Carr, who helped the Lady Hounds win a state title as their leading pitcher in 2010, began her week by driving in the only run in a 1-0 victory in the first game of a doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern on Wednesday. In the second game, she had a double and a three-run homer.

Against Augusta State on Friday, Carr singled home a run in a 3-1 victory in the first game, then went 3-for-3 with four RBIs and another home run in the second game.
