Attorney Sam Hart Jr. is tenacious in attempting to secure bond for his client Francisco Javier Angel-Garcia, who was arrested in November and is being held on a $65,000 cash only bond.
Hart was in court March 28 in front of Chief Superior Court Judge William Prior asking that his client’s bond be reduced or be allowed to be secured by property. He stated that Angel-Garcia is a native of Mexico but has lived in Macon for 15 years.
“His family is here, and his employer wants him back,” the defense attorney said.
Hart said his client has no prior record and is not a flight risk.
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Bushway represented the state in the bond hearing and pointed out that, although Angel-Garcia has been in the United States for 15 years, it would be easy for him to return to Mexico. Once that happened it would be difficult to find him.
