The Lady Hounds began to heat up over the weekend, and they are hoping to stay hot as the region playoffs begin Saturday.

Jones County won four of five games Friday and Saturday in the Brookwood Invitational Tournament, including a nine-inning 7-4 thriller over Loganville, then knocked off Northside-Warner Robins 4-0 at home on Monday to earn the right to host a first-round series in the Region 2-AAAAA playoffs.

The Lady Hounds were to host Houston County Tuesday evening in their final subregion game, needing to beat the Lady Bears by six or more runs to claim a No. 1 seed for the region playoffs. But even with a loss, the Lady Hounds were assured of a second seed and a home series to open the playoffs, and Houston County will also host an opening round series.

Both schools will host a double-header on Saturday, with the third game if needed next Monday. Game times have not been announced. Their opponents will be one of the bottom two teams in the other subregion, Lakeside-Evans or Grovetown, depending on the outcome of Tuesday’s games.

The top two teams in the A subregion, Greenbrier and Evans, will host the bottom two teams in the B subregion, Northside and Warner Robins, in the first round.
