Council members also approved running legal notices about the budget and mill rate, and it authorized having tax notices printed. They should be ready to mail to city residents by the end of the month.
The council also approved paying $1,500 for training for Downtown Development Authority members, with the money to come from unused funds budgeted for 2012 salaries.
Mayor Pro Tem Loretta Lipsey conducted the meeting, which was also attended by Councilmen Benny Gray, Terrell Fulford and Terry Favors. Mayor Gus Wilson and Councilman David Tufts were absent.
During the normal mid-month committees meeting following the called meeting, the council members reviewed proposal No. 4 for redrawing the city’s council district lines as presented by Nick Kouloungis of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission based on 2010 Census data.
Every 10 years the districts are supposed to be adjusted to reflect changes in population, with the idea to keep the four districts roughly equal in population.
