JONES COUNTY: Johnny Lee Abernathy, 59, of Five Points Road, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, at his residence after an extended illness. A memorial service is being held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 8, at Real Life Church in Macon, with pastor Bo Turner officiating.

Mr. Abernathy was born in Macon on May 7, 1953, and was the son of the late Buford Abernathy and Margaret Edna Bryant Abernathy. He worked as a painter for Morrison Paint Contractors and was a member of Real Life Church.

Mr. Abernathy is survived by his wife of 16 years, Pamela Denise Watson Abernathy; sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Holly Wood and Bruce and Denise Holton; daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie Abernathy, Heather and Craig Hughes, Stacy and Charles Bass, Nicki and John Jackson and Denise and Moraji Brooks; brother and sister-in-law, Ricky and Kay Abernathy; sister and brother-in-law, Annette and Oscar Church; and by 18 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to help offset funeral expenses at Bank of America, Johnny Abernathy Fund.
