Mr. Armstrong was born in Soperton on Sept. 11, 1936, and had lived in Gray for the past 51 years. He was the son of the late Kirkland Harris Armstrong Sr. and Pauline Toler Armstrong. Mr. Armstrong served his country with honor as a member of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Korean conflict. Before retirement, he worked as a shop manager for the Jones County Public Works Department. Mr. Armstrong was of the Methodist faith and was friends of the Ole Clinton Opry and The Wagon House.
Mr. Armstrong is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Virginia Richardson Armstrong; son, Robert Armstrong; daughter, Angela Dunlap; brother, Harris Armstrong; sister, Sylvia Ellenburg; grandchildren, Joshua and his wife Jeanna, Dalton, Alex, Autumn, Hope, Brad, Robbie, Tyler and Tiffany; and by his great-grandson, Marshall.
