GRAY: Wilbur Allen Barnes, 73, of Southern Walk Circle, died Saturday, July 20, 2013, at his residence. The family greeted friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., Monday, at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home, with interment at New Salem Baptist Church Cemetery. Pastor Eddie Windham officiated.

Mr. Barnes was born Jan. 24, 1940, in Macon, and had lived in Jones County for the past eight years. He was the son of the late Wilbur Ormand Barnes and Margaret Gunter Barnes. Mr. Barnes was the elder of New Salem Baptist Church and was retired from Robins Air Force Base as an electronics technician, as well as serving as a sheriff’s deputy for the Jones County Sheriff’s Office.

Mr. Barnes is survived by his wife of 54 years, Kaye Quinn Barnes; sons and daughters-in-law, Gary Allen and Sherry Barnes, Keith Lamar and Tracy Barnes and Gregory Lee and Kathy Barnes; daughters and sons-in-law, Lydia Ruth and Robbie Sanabria and Rebekah Ann and Billy Mitchell; sisters and brothers-in-law, Jackie and Frankie Kitchens and Ann and David Mullis; brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Barbara Barnes; and by eight grandchildren.
