JONES COUNTY: Jerry Raybon Byrd, 60, passed away Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his residence. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 23, at Friendship Baptist Church, 3139 Friendship Church Road, off of Highway 129 Alternate, Dry Branch, with the Rev. Charles Carter officiating.

Mr. Byrd was born in Macon on Aug. 16, 1952, and was a lifelong resident of Jones County. He was the son of the late Howard Anderson “Papoose” Byrd and Ruby Lee Grooms “Moose” Byrd. After completing his education, he worked as an electrician. In addition to his parents, Mr. Byrd was preceded in death by a sister, Gloria Roquemore. He will be with us forever through the stories of days gone by.

Mr. Byrd leaves to cherish his memory his loving companion of 24 years, Rita Clark of Macon; son, Andy Byrd of Macon; twin brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Rena Byrd of Macon; sisters and brother-in-law, Carolyn Avery of Gray and Lynda and Edward Davis of Macon; and by several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his dog and best friend, J.D.
