JONES COUNTY: James L. Comer, 85, of North Cross Road, died Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012, at his residence. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, graveside, at the Comer Family Cemetery in Jones County, with the Rev. John Albrycht officiating.

Mr. Comer was born Sept. 1, 1926, to the late J.T. Comer and Martha Jewell Lifsey Comer. He honorably served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army and was a member of First Baptist Church of Gray. Mr. Comer enjoyed woodworking and was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was the founder of James Comer Dairy, where he had earned much respect as a businessman. He was preceded in death by a sister, Iona Ethridge.

Mr. Comer is survived by his wife of 37 years, Hazel Comer; children and spouses, Jimmy and Penny Comer, John and Janet Comer, Chet Albrycht, Sam and Lisa Albrycht, John and Sandy Albrycht, and Jean and Shannon Phillips; 17 grandchildren; and by siblings and spouses, Malcolm and Treva Comer, Vivian and Ralph Brooks, Melvin and Rachel Comer, and Betty Faye Pittman.

Flowers will be accepted; however, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 804 Cherry St., Macon, GA 31201 or to Hospice of Central Georgia, 6261 Peake Road, Macon, GA 31210.
