Mr. Greene, the son of the late Dennis Ausburn Greene and Lorine Roberts Greene, was born in Clinton on Aug. 13, 1923, and had lived in Jones County his entire life. After completing his education, he served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II, seeing overseas duty in the Pacifi c theater. Upon his return to civilian life, Mr. Greene worked as a body shop manager for a number of automobile dealers in Macon, eventually retiring from Lamar Hughes Pontiac. He was a loyal and active member of Clinton United Methodist Church for all of his 89 years. Mr. Greene’s sense of civic duty led him to become one of the charter members of the City of Gray Fire Department, rising through the
ranks to retire in 1985 as an assistant chief. He and his late wife, Anne Moughon Greene, were lovingly devoted to each other for 68 years.
Mr. Greene is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry Zane and Joy Greene; daughter and son-in-law, Kibby and JoeBen Jackson; grandchildren and spouses, Scott and Ashley Greene, Kelli and Hunter Squires and Casey and Ashton Green; and by his great-grandchildren, Grace Greene, Zane Greene and Lawson Green.
