JONES COUNTY: Sara Giles Jarrell, 93, beloved wife of Julian, precious mother of Judy and Jerry, departed this life for her heavenly home, Jan. 31, 2014, in Niceville, Fla. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m., with a funeral service following at 11:00 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 8, in the Old Sanctuary of Gray United Methodist Church, with interment at 2:00 p.m., in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens in Macon. Dr. Wayne Moseley will officiate.

Mrs. Jarrell was born Jan. 20, 1921, in Peach County, to Horace Ezekiel Giles and Maggie Morris Giles, and was a graduate of Byron High School. She and Julian moved to Gray in 1941 and joined Gray Methodist Church, where she served in many phases of the church as Sunday school teacher, church hostess, MYF leader, Wesleyan Service Guild, and United Methodist Women. She and Julian helped organize the first couples Sunday school class.

The United Methodist Women presented her the Quiet Disciple recognition. Mrs. Jarrell was a homemaker and was very involved in her children’s school activities as a room mother and chaperone, and a den mother for the first Cub Scout den organized in Jones County. She was also pivotal as a bookkeeper for her husband’s insurance business, helping them earn several awards and trips from Life of Georgia.

Mrs. Jarrell is predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Julian Harris Jarrell Sr.; her brother, Ledrew Giles; and sister, Florine Brand. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Carey Huff of Niceville, Fla.; son, Julian Harris Jarrell Jr. and Cathy of Atlanta; grandchildren and spouses and great-grandchildren, Reagan and Barbie Huff (Chase, Rachel, Ashton and Olivia), Brandon and Heather Huff (Zander, Hatten and Blakely), Chandler and Cheri Huff (Christian and Chance), Elizabeth-Ann and Weyman Dorsett (Harrison and Coleman), Branham Jarrell and fiancée Danielle Simms, and Andrew and Amanda Jarrell (Andon and Addie); sisters, Marie Moore and Wylene Maddox; and many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank Shirley, Brenda, Denise, and Maria, the caregivers at Stone Brooke Suites in Gray and Manor Nursing Home in Niceville, for the loving care they gave our sweet mother.
