MACON: Elinor Newman, 75, of Mogul Road, died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, at a local hospital. Memorial services were held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 9, in the chapel of Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. The Rev. Richard Bobo officiated.

Mrs. Newman was born Jan. 8, 1938, in Rochelle, and had lived in Macon for the past 44 years. She was the daughter of the late Dewey Martin and Bessie McDuffie Martin. Mrs.Newman was the first registered certified nursing assistant in Middle Georgia and was retired from Middle Georgia Hospital. She attended Immanuel Baptist Church and was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Newman Sr.; two sons, James D. Newman and Marty Newman; and by a daughter, Frances D. Peeples.

Mrs. Newman is survived by her children and their spouses, James “Skipper” Jr. and Rachael Newman, Michael Steven and Dana Newman, Gayle German and Brenda and Mark Jones; and by many, many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
