GRAY: Ethel Burnette Greene Rearden, 86, passed away Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, in a local health-care facility. Graveside services were held Sunday, Nov. 25, 2:00 p.m., at Highview Cemetery in Gray. The Rev. Joseph D. Greene III officiated. She was born June 25, 1926, and was the last surviving child of the six children of the late J.A. and Nannie Nelson Burnette.

She was predeceased by her first husband of 31 years, Joseph D. Greene Sr., and her second husband of 29 years, James F. Rearden.

She was a member of First Baptist Church of Gray, where she was a member of the WMU and the Benevolent Committee. She also taught children’s Sunday school.

She was employed in the clerical positions at Gray Drug Company and the Office of Probate Judge. She retired as secretary of Califf Middle School in Gray. She will be remembered for her spirited personality and witty sense of humor.

She is survived by her children, Joseph D. “Danny” Jr. and Kathie Greene, Ricky and Nancy Greene Nash, and Al and Patsy Greene; her grandchildren, Anna K. Greene, Joseph D. III and Ashley Greene, Graham W. Nash, Jeffrey M. Nash and Adam M. Greene; her great-grandchildren, Joseph D. Greene IV and Reynolds Lee Greene; and several nieces and nephews.

She is also survived by her stepchildren, Foy and Miriam Rearden, Bob and Lee Rearden Zittle, Allen and Cindi Rearden, and their families.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the home caregivers whom she dearly loved — Christy, Sharelle and Angel — and to the caring and dedicated staff of Gray Health & Rehabilitation.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to First Baptist Church, Gray, or the donor’s favorite charity.
