Kitchens Road in Haddock is the location of a first of its kind festival that its originators are hoping will become an annual event.

The Kitchens Road Old Time Family Festival (where everything is new again) is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m., Nov. 10-11, and end at 6 p.m. both days. As the name would suggest, the festival will take place at 370 Kitchens Road SW in Haddock.

The event includes a huge variety of activities, including a classic car, truck, and tractor show, antique farm and tractor show, arts and crafts, live music featuring a church choir sing-off, a collard green cook-off, hayrides and pony rides, mule day demonstrations, and storytelling.

Information from the event’s website, www.kitchensroad.com, states that one stage will be exclusively for the church choirs with each choir performing at least twice. The singing begins at 10 a.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday.

Contestants for the collard green cook-off will be cooking on the premises. The judging will begin at 11:30 a.m. Saturday with the trophy presentation at 2.

Individuals, teams, and organizations will be competing for the title of “King & Queen of the collard green”.

Trophies will also be given for best cornbread.
