The community of Haddock was the key topic at last week’s Housing Committee meeting.

The committee met at a new location, Jones County’s new Senior Center, for their April 26 meeting, which was led by chairman Donald Black.

After introductions, Family Connection Coordinator Joy Carr gave an update about the Jones County PLAN Retreat, and since the retreat, she said she has been looking at economic development possibilities.

Carr said she found a professor at Georgia College who can help with putting data together to help with small areas for development, which is needed because of Jones County’s Tier Three status with the state. The higher a county’s tier status, the more difficult it is to receive state or federal grants. She said the professor was successful in areas of Baldwin County.

The coordinator said a family health fair is scheduled at the Jones County Public Library June 3 at noon to help kick off the library’s summer reading program.
