One more of the 50 defendants in Jones County’s most recent Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations case entered a guilty plea.

Brandy Nicole Plummer was sentenced June 4 to 15 years for one count of RICO with three years to serve. The remainder of the sentence may be served on probation.

Forty defendants, including Plummer, were indicted by a Jones County grand jury Jan. 7 on two counts of violations of the RICO Act. The defendant’s second RICO charge was dismissed as part of plea negotiations with the state.

All 50 of the offenders were arrested beginning Oct. 22. 2013, but 10 of them resolved their cases before the grand jury met.

In a story about the RICO arrests in The Jones County News, Sheriff Butch Reece said Jones County began the drug investigation in August of 2013 focusing on Robert Olin Rosser, who lived in the northern portion of the county. He said sheriff departments in Putnam and Baldwin counties soon joined the investigation, and it later extended to the counties of Wilkinson, Washington and Spalding.
