Jones County High School’s soccer teams kick off the spring seasons for the Greyhounds when they open at Mary Persons in Forsyth on Saturday. The girls play at 1 p.m. and the boys at 3 p.m.
Will Mitcham moves from the girls’ team to coach the boys’ team this year, replacing Jason Smith, who remains a teacher at JCHS but stepped down as a coach.
Tamoco Hill is the new girls’ coach.
The varsity soccer teams will each play 16 games, with the regular season running through April 10. The first home games will be on Feb. 14 against subregion foe Dutchtown.
The Greyhounds will also have a short junior varsity soccer schedule, opening on Feb. 20 at home against Lamar County. Four regular season games are scheduled, with a tournament April 12-14 ending the season.
