Coach Matt Goins said the girls lost early in the day but battled back and were able to defeat the same team in a rematch for the championship.
“This is probably the first time I truly cannot pick a girl who contributed more than any other. We as a team played well, and that’s what gave us the edge and ability to win it all,” he said. “I could not be any more proud of how these girls represented Jones County as we traveled around the state playing.”
It was the final tournament of the season for the team, which finished with a 49-17 overall record in 11 tournaments. Sudden Impact won six championships, finished second twice and third twice.
But it is not the end of softball for the girls this summer. They, along with Kaitlyn Brower and Haley Owens, will now represent Jones County in the Dixie Youth State Championships July 12-15 in Milledgeville as the Jones County National League All-Stars.
