The thermometer and calendar might not agree, but it is time for Jones County’s high school and middle school spring sports teams to get started.

Jones County’s tennis team swings into action first this week, hosting Georgia Military at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Soccer follows with its opener next week against Woodland on Monday at home. The girls play at 5:30 p.m. and the boys at 7:30.

Season schedules for the tennis and soccer teams can be found on page B3. Schedules for the other spring sports teams will be published in the coming weeks as their seasons open.

The varsity baseball team has a scrimmage game at home Feb. 15 at 5:30 p.m. against Veterans, then opens the season on Feb. 25 against Luella, also at home at 5:30.

The Clifton Ridge baseball team opens on Feb. 14 with a home game against Washington County at 5 p.m., and the Gray Station team opens Feb. 26 at home against Monroe County at 5 p.m.
