The fund-raiser will take place Saturday, March 16, at the Jones County Lions Club on Highway 18 East, beginning at 10 a.m. The cost to participate is $5 per shot. The club will furnish shells and participants have the option of using their own gun or one will be provided.
The event will last until 2 p.m. or until people stop coming.
The Red Knights’ first turkey shoot took place Nov. 10, 2012, and grossed $600. Club member Chuck Marks said that event was put together in 10 days but still had 30-40 people attend.
The club started earlier this time and is hoping for a bigger turnout and to raise more money.
Marks said local firefighters had been talking about starting a local chapter of the Red Knights for some time, and the group got their charter for Georgia Chapter 24 last October.
The local chapter has 17 members, and membership is open to any Jones County or Gray firefighter, active or retired, with a motorcycle.
