Ashley Elizabeth Barksdale pled guilty in Jones County Superior Court June 6 and received 10 years for the offense of VGCSA possession of methamphetamine. She was also ordered to enter a state residential substance abuse treatment center and will remain incarcerated in the Jones County Law Enforcement Center until space is available at the treatment center. Following successful completion of the drug treatment, the remainder of Barksdale’s sentence may be served on probation.
She was arrested May 1 with James Edward Wall, who was also charged with VGCSA possession of methamphetamine.
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Bushway told the court that Sheriff’s Investigator Gerry Nelson received information that Wall would be coming to Jones County in a tan Avalon and there was an outstanding warrant for his arrest.
The prosecutor said officers set up surveillance and spotted the car. It was stopped on Highway 49, and Wall and Barksdale were identified.
