The committee is in its second year as part of the Georgia Initiative for Community Housing program. Donald Black, the chairman of the committee, was not at the meeting because he is recovering from surgery, and the meeting was opened by Loretta Lipsey.
Lipsey began by discussing letters of support needed for the Community Development Block Grant for housing due to be submitted April 1. The grant is for rehabilitation of homes on Jefferson Street.
Nick Kouloungis of the Middle Georgia Regional Commission said, if the grant is funded, work will not begin until March or April of next year.
