Preseason football practice was to open Wednesday for the Greyhounds as Jones County’s fall sports teams swing into high gear in preparations for their upcoming seasons.

Official softball, cross country and cheerleading practices can open Aug. 1.

Football teams must now use an instrument that measures the wet bulb globe temperature reading during practices, and the reading determines the length and intensity of practice sessions.
