GRAY: Family and friends mourn the loss of Thomas “Doc” Howard, 50, who passed away suddenly on Aug. 30, 2012, in Macon. In celebration of Thomas’ life, a funeral service is being held Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2:00 p.m., at Jordan Chapel A.M.E. Church in Haddock, with pastor Forrest Dickey officiating, and interment following in Highview Cemetery in Gray. The family received friends at Samuel Memorial Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 4, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m.

Thomas was born March 26, 1962, in Macon, to the late Levi and Alice Howard. He enjoyed fishing, reading, and watching scary movies. He was a handyman, and he knew a lot about carpentry and plumbing. Thomas was a devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Howard, and two grandchildren, Jennifer Howard and Wesley Bullard, all of Eatonton; a sister, Barbara West and her husband Doug, of Gray; and one brother, Ernest Howard Sr. He was also preceded in death by two siblings, Bessie Akins and Johnny Lee Howard.
