Jones County’s junior varsity softball team lost to West Laurens 8-0 last Wednesday at home.

Logan Hollingsworth pitched and had the lone hit for the Lady Hounds, coach Tripp Burt reported. Kaitlyn Hemstreet, Rosanna Baker and Kaley Sadler all had stolen bases.

Earlier, the Lady Hounds lost 7-5 to Union Grove. Monique Veal went 2-for-3 to lead the hitting, and Sadler, Logan Bowden and Kaylee Skinner all had one hit each.

Gray Station beats Lamar

The Gray Station Lady Hounds defeated Lamar County 10-7 on the road last Thursday.

“We hit the ball very well, but we struggled getting our bunts down,” coach Mandy Vaughn said. “And we made four silly errors. That is what seems to be keeping games close for us. We commit errors that come back to bite us, but we are working really hard to make those minor adjustments so those errors will hopefully diminish or go away completely.”

Madie Findlay led the team at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs. The Lady Hounds finished with nine hits and eight RBIs.
