Kickoff for Jones County’s first home game of the season is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Greyhound Field.
Both schools enter having lost their last game – Jones County (1-1) fell to Mary Persons 25-21 two weeks ago and Putnam County (2-1) lost to Morgan County 39-16 last week.
The Greyhounds beat Alcovy 21-16 to open the season, and the War Eagles started with a pair of wins, 28-14 over Greene County and 32-0 over Crawford County.
Putnam County leads the series 24-21 and has a four-game winning streak over the Greyhounds. But the last contest in the rivalry was back in 1997, when the War Eagles won 49-19 in Gray. Jones County’s last win in the series was in 1993, 19-13 at home.
