At the request of Commissioner Chap Nelson, County Administrator Mike Underwood put together a report containing general information and criteria for road resurfacing and construction that included the county’s road repair list.
The conversation began at the Sept. 18 meeting with the process known as chip sealing that is used extensively across the county to preserve roads. Commissioner Tommy Robinson commented that people are pleased with the final product.
“It’s getting to that final product that’s the problem,” he said.
Chairman Preston Hawkins said Jarrell Plantation Road needs to be reclaimed. He said he spoke to representatives of the Georgia Department of Transportation, and the agency has agreed to provide two inches of asphalt for the road after it has been reclaimed. Hawkins said the Jarrell Plantation Road project extends from the plantation gate to Highway 18.
