The Hounds got off to a horrible start with a costly fumble, and Warner Robins scored the first four times it got the ball last Thursday night.

The Greyhounds played better in the second half but were unable to sustain the long drives or connect on enough big plays needed to make a run, falling to the Demons 35-7 at McConnell-Talbert Stadium to drop out of a tie for the region lead.

The most important thing, though, coach Dwight Jones said, is to not let Warner Robins beat them twice.

“What we have to do now is put this behind us and get ready to go play Evans. If we dwell on Warner Robins beating us too much and feel sorry for ourselves, we’ll lose again this week,” he said.

Jones County plays at Evans on Friday night in a matchup to remain in the running for a berth in the state playoffs.

Both teams are 3-2 overall and 1-1 in Region 2-AAAAA, tied with Lakeside-Evans and Grovetown for third in the standings. Northside-Warner Robins, 5-0 overall, and Warner Robins, 4-1, are tied for the lead as both are 2-0 in region play.
