Clifton Ridge is winner in first round of playoffs

The Clifton Ridge Cougars advanced to the second round of the Central Georgia Middle School Association football playoffs by downing Manchester 36-6 in the opening round last Wednesday in Gray.

Nick Singleton scored three touchdowns and Maurice Brown and Teldric Ross one each for the Cougars, coach Charles David reported.

Clifton Ridge was to face Cowan Road Middle School in Griffin in the second round on Wednesday afternoon. If the Cougars win that game, they will play for the championship next Wednesday.

Ninth-grade Hounds top Perry in last game

The ninth-grade Hounds finished their season with a 4-2 record by downing Perry 34-14 last Thursday in Gray.
