GRAY: Richard Jennings Martin, 87, of Overland Way, died Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012, at a local hospital. The family greeted friends from 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 3, at Bridges Funeral Home in Gray. Funeral services followed, with the Rev. Mike Smith officiating.

Mr. Martin was born Feb. 12, 1925, in Troy, N.Y., and had lived in Gray for the past five years. He was the son of the late Lloyd Stafford Martin and Veva Jennings Martin of Troy, N.Y. Mr. Martin honorably served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II and was a retired bus operator for MARTA. He was a devoted father and husband and was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Elizabeth Osborne Martin; by his brothers, Stafford Martin and Gerald Martin; by a niece; and by a great-grandson.

Mr. Martin is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Lloyd and Brenda Martin of Eatonton; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Alexander and Edward Gentry of Flovilla; daughter, Jacquelyn A. Martin of Haddock; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two nieces; and by a nephew.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Georgia War Veteran’s Home, 2249 Vinson Highway SE, Milledgeville, GA 31061.
