Francisco Javier Angel-Garcia, 31, was arrested Nov. 20 with co-defendant Domingo Cobo-Depaz, who is also from Macon.
The men are being held on a $65,000 cash bond. The charge of trafficking involves the sale, delivery, or possession of 28 or more grams of an illegal drug, and if convicted, comes with a minimum 10-year sentence and a mandatory $200,000 fine.
When the defendant was arrested, he and Cobo-Depaz were in possession of 144 grams of methamphetamine and a pistol.
Assistant District Attorney Gregory Bushway told the court the defendant had no record but the state is concerned he is a flight risk.
Angel-Garcia was represented in the Dec. 20 hearing by defense attorney Sam Hart Jr. He asked for a change from the cash only requirement on the bond or a reduction to $45,000.
