Jones County seniors Undre Williams and Jackson Williamson played for the south squad in the Georgia Athletic Coaches Association high school all-star football game last Saturday in Columbus.

Williams scored the south team’s only touchdown in the 14-7 loss on a 2-yard run late in the first quarter. He had 51 yards in five carries on the drive, including a 29-yard run to the 5 to set up the touchdown. He finished with 70 yards on eight carries.

The north team scored first on a 73-yard interception return by Norcross’ Shon Akins early in the game. The defenses controlled the games through the second and third quarters. The north finally put together a late drive to win when Aquinas running back Brendan Davis scored on a 41-yard reception from West Forsyth quarterback A.J. Erderly with 1:20 remaining.

Williams and Williamson, an offensive guard, also were named to the Associated Press/Georgia Sports Writers Association all-state team for GHSA Class AAAAA. Williamson made the second team, and Williams was honorable mention.

The two were also first-team All-Middle Georgia selections by The Macon Telegraph. Tight end Jared Johnson and outside linebacker Doug West were second team, fullback Walker Juhan was third team, and running back Jo Jo Gibbons, linebacker Austin Petrosky and defensive lineman Greg Snead were honorable mention.
