2012 was a good year for the local economy with three new restaurants opening their doors.

The Pickle Barrel Café and Sports Bar, owned by Bob and Kelly Jawarski, opened its Gray location in March. The restaurant is the third for the couple who also have restaurants in Milledgeville and Columbus.

The Pickle Barrel is located in the Gateway Shopping Center.

Firefly’s Restaurant is the second dining establishment, which is owned and operated by Scott Jackson. The restaurant is located at 4171 Gray Highway, and it opened for operation in October.

Jackson is also the owner of Chevy’s Café on Highway 49.

Iron Bone Steakhouse opened the first week in December. It is owned by Ramon Saucillo, the owner of Jalapeños Mexican Restaurant, which is also located in Gray. Iron Bone is located at 216 W. Clinton St.

In today’s economic climate, having three upscale dining establishments locating in a town Gray’s size is extraordinary and speaks well of the future of the city and county.
