Lion Richard Brown of Covington attended the Jan. 10 meeting of the Jones County club and presented the awards. The first service award was given to the club’s current president, Marshall Flewellyn, who has 10 years of service.
Four Lions received 20-year awards, Pat Daniels, Billy Moore, Bobby Daniels, and Terrell Fulford, and three more, Thad Childs, Nancy Pace, and Margaret Wells were presented with 25-year service awards.
The final service award was presented to Dr. Berry Moore, who has been a Lions Club member for 40 years.
Moore is not the longest serving member of the Jones County club, however; Jessie DeMaree has that designation. He received his 50-year service award last year.
The club’s newest member, Denise Childs, was installed prior to the distributing of the service awards. Childs was sponsored by her husband Thad.
The Lions Club of Jones County has been in existence since 1968 and has been bringing the fair to the community each year for 43 years. The club has 26 members on roll.
