Jones County’s boys are still struggling at times, but they are finding ways to win and enter the stretch drive at 11-9 overall and 2-2 in subregion play, having won six of their last eight games and three in a row.
They downed region foe Houston County 58-47 after trailing by 10 points in the opening quarter on Friday, and they edged Baldwin 57-55 in overtime on Saturday in a non-region game after giving up a lead late in regulation when they had trouble making foul shots. Both games were at home.
The Greyhounds were to host Twiggs County in a non-region game Tuesday night before hosting Northside-Warner Robins (15-6, 4-1) on Friday and visiting Warner Robins (13-13, 3-1) next Tuesday.
The Greyhounds would have to sweep their final two subregion games and hope for a little help from Houston County to overtake the Demons and finish tied with the Eagles for the top spot in the standings.
Jones County will host the Region 2-AAAAA Tournament this year, Feb. 12-16.
