The family received friends from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, in the Old Sanctuary at Gray United Methodist Church. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 2, in the Family Life Center of Gray United Methodist Church, with burial following at Highview Cemetery in Gray. The Rev. Mr. Childs was born in Gray on Feb. 5, 1927, and was a lifelong resident. His faith was evident, as he was the oldest current member of Gray United Methodist Church, having joined the church 75 years ago, when he was 11 years old, and being very active in the church ever since. Mr. Childs was also a great lover of sports, following the Atlanta Braves, the Atlanta Falcons and the Georgia Bulldogs.
